You know, the more I think about it, the less I like it.
I talked to a literary agent on Thursday and was informed of what it will take to get a book done about Danny Trejo. First, 'ghost' it for him. It would have to be a fake autobiography. And that's fucking impossible. Even if I wanted to write it that way, I could not. Trejo doesn't want to write it that way. In fact he probably doesn't want to write it at all.
But it's getting written. And it will be an autobiography. And he will be in it. As will Eddie Bunker. What a trip. It's like, I almost forgot who I am.
I told the agent that I can only write a book that I would want to read. And I have not yet been able to finish reading a celebrity autobiography. They generally just bore the shit out of me. Self congratulatory and self-aggrandizing and lacking in any kind of significant message.
I'm going to write it the way I want to write it. If no publisher will pick it up, then...fuck. I'll figure something out.

EXCONS AND ICONS
I sure miss Eddie Bunker. Working on the book, about my friend Danny Trejo. Actually I don't even know that's what it's about. It may be about something bigger. And I think if it is that's okay. Interesting website to look at called WWW.EXCON-TO-ICON.COM

Movie or Scam? I guess we wait for the sequel.
Actual movie? Or elaborate scam? |
It's funny because the story about this film Vengeance features prominently in the article I'm writing now. I can tell you for sure that what is publicly known about this film is entirely different from what actually happened. Here's a hint, go to IMDB and look up a film called Jack's Law. Note the cast, take a look at the credits and the story then go to Netflix and try to order the film. it's actually listed there believe it or not. But you can't order it, it's never in stock.
Okay, here's a spoiler: Jack's Law is Vengeance and Vengeance is Jack's Law. This film is been sold to so many investors.... I don't want to come right out and say that this film is a… But six years in postproduction? Then change the name of the film and re-release it, or actually release it, because it's never been released before, as a different film altogether? Come on…
And one last thing: take a look at Gil Medina's credits on IMDb.com I defy you to find a single copy of any of those TV shows films and everything else.
And one more thing: trying googling 'Gilbert Medina, Utah.'

Perseverance
I believe in perseverance. Perseverance overcomes everything—it overcomes luck, it overcomes intelligence. It wins.
You can never fail if you never stop trying.
Edward Bunker
I need some now. Been trying to write all day and the phone won't stop ringing.

Projects #2 Revise The 211 Club Novel version
Then I made a left turn off the book-length fiction path and down the road toward film—I had been accepted into RIT School of Photography, Film, Video and Animation. And I decided that screenplay was the place I wanted to be. After that came the Film Division at Columbia University, so I stopped writing books.
The screenplay version did okay, it was optioned for a while by a well-known production company, got me a manager in Hollywood, and taught me a few lessons along the way about how things worked out there. It never got made, though.
And, in possibly one of the most satisfying moments of my writing career, Eddie Bunker read the novel version. He spent all night one night reading it and called me the next morning. He said "it's great, man, you are a real writer."

MAGAZINE ARTICLE: BEING DANNY TREJO, IN DEPTH WITH THE (ONLY) REAL HOLLYWOOD BADASS
6 MONTHS WITH DANNY TREJO
So there's a huge amount going on right now. I haven't even launched this blog and the new site, at www.xigentmedia.com, but I've been working like crazy trying to get all my assets and media into a manageable format. Here's a list of my present projects that I am trying to launch:
5000 word article on Danny Trejo that must be done so that it's available for publication around the time of the release of Machete Kills. It's a first-person account of what it's like to be in his inner circle—allowed total access to his life and his friends and his career. This is really exciting;
I have a massive amount of video, recorded voice, written material and photography from the second half of last year when I was trying to gather material for a book on Trejo. Not really sure what is going to happen with the book; there was some drama around the project related to some of the people around Danny, and they have (for the moment) put the whole thing on hold. But the whole story will be in the article. coming soon.
I will post excerpts from the book as I get them into shape.

Xigent Blog (slight return)
Okay. Here we go. I did this last night on the Wix blog but it seems to be lost somewhere in Facebook. XigentMedia is a complete rebuild of motion media's online presence. And some digital assets go back as far as 17 years. I stripped it down, and I'm building it up from square 1.
Which is good. I have so much going on project wise. So many half-finished projects. XigentMedia is going to be a case study of a complete rebuild of all my work.
Over the next few days I will blog about the work I have—the projects that have been languishing.
